Ferenc Liszt Season Ticket 2023/24
Following our recent introductory concerts of evergreen melodies and some cracking pop music there is true magic of exciting masterpieces and rarities awaiting our Sopron audience hereafter.
The opening presentation of the Franz Liszt Series of Sopron is dubbed "International Day of Music" on October 2, 2023, conducted by Martin Rajna. Program includes a symphony by W. A. Mozart, and a piano concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven played by Zoltán Fejérvári, regarded as one of the most talented Hungarian pianists of his generation.
"Italian Baroque Concerti" is the subtitle of the introductory performance of a group called "Capella Savaria" in November, 2023, featuring popular works by Arcangelo Corelli, and Antonio Vivaldi. Soloists of that concert are bassoonist László Ferencsik, and flutist Andrea Bertalan, artistic director and soloist being Zsolt Kalló who is to play himself the glorious solo violin part of Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons.
W. A. Mozart's graceful Flute Concerto in D major is, along with the famous "Pictures of an Exhibition" by Modest Mussorgsky, are in the program of January 2024 when GYPO's very own principal flutist, Fabian Köhring, is introduced as soloist of the evening, conducted by artistic director Kálmán Berkes.
Great Dutch/South African violinist/conductor Gerard Korsten is finally back in the spring of 2024 conducting music by Joseph Haydn, and Johannes Brahms. Also returning to Győr is locally born Gábor Hontvári who currently lives and works in Germany. He is scheduled to lead the orchestra through the music of Béla Bartók's Divertimento, as well as a symphony by Beethoven.
The last concert of the 2023/24 Liszt Series is to take place at the St. Michael Church in Sopron. The Chamber Orchestra of Csík (town in Transylvania) will be combined with the Franz Liszt Symphony Orchestra of Sopron to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Austrian composer Anton Bruckner. The concert features violinists Anett Nezvald, and Csaba Veress, also the mixed choir named "Prelude", conducted by Péter Kóczán, and doctor Sándor Kabdebó.
